Transformative Justice through the Prison Yoga Project
I am a proud and active supporter of the Prison Yoga Project, an organization that aligns with my deep-seated belief in holistic prison reform. We cannot expect individuals to successfully reintegrate into society if we leave them in a state of untreated trauma and nervous system dysregulation.
Why I Support This Mission: The traditional carceral system often compounds trauma rather than resolving it. The Prison Yoga Project provides a path toward true rehabilitation by teaching incarcerated individuals:
Impulse Control & Emotional Regulation: Using yoga and mindfulness to create a "pause" between a thought and an action—the cornerstone of preventing future violence.
Somatic Healing: Releasing the stored trauma that often leads to the cycle of crime and incarceration.
Accountability from Within: Encouraging individuals to take ownership of their healing and their choices.
A New Vision for Reform I believe in a justice system that prioritizes the restoration of the human spirit. By supporting the Prison Yoga Project, I am advocating for a future where prisons are not just warehouses, but places of profound transformation. When we provide people with the tools to heal their bodies and minds, we create safer communities and break the intergenerational cycle of incarceration.
